1941

Yokota Sewing founded

Maibara, Shiga, where the company was founded, was known for its thriving futon industry using Omi mawata silk floss. 
It was there that founder Komazo Yokota established Yokota Sewing as a sewing business.

1988

Began manufacturing sleeping bags

As subcontracting work from major Japanese futon manufacturers declined, second-generation president Akira Yokota shifted the business to sleeping bag manufacturing. 
Overcoming that challenge and finding new opportunities in sleeping bag production laid the groundwork for the company that would later become NANGA.

1990

Cosmos Ltd. established

The company reassessed the balance between its futon and sleeping bag businesses and adopted a new management structure centered on sleeping bag production.

1993

Reorganized as Yokota Cosmos Co., Ltd.

The company shifted to a structure that allowed it to work directly with customers. The increase in repair requests would later become the foundation for NANGA's lifetime warranty service.

1995

Renamed NANGA Co., Ltd.

The company moved beyond subcontract work and began a new chapter as a manufacturer. The name “NANGA” embodies its determination to overcome even the toughest challenges.

1996

Full-scale sleeping bag production under the NANGA brand began

At the request of outdoor retailers, NANGA began manufacturing private-label sleeping bags. 
As recognition for their quality grew, the company established itself as a trusted manufacturer.

2001

Tomoyuki Yokota joined the company

Tomoyuki Yokota, who would later become the company's third CEO, joined the company.
He began laying the foundation for the brand's growth with a focus on strengthening sales.

2002

First venture into down jacket manufacturing

Made its first venture into down jacket manufacturing and entered the apparel industry.
Continued refining its products while building experience in product development.

2009

Tomoyuki Yokota appointed CEO

Tomoyuki Yokota appointed CEO.
Established the vision of "a company where each employee's dream becomes NANGA's dream."

2012

New headquarters completed

The new headquarters strengthened NANGA's development and production capabilities.
It became the base for its next stage of growth.

2015

Opened its first retail store

Opened its first company-operated store, NANGA SHOP TOKYO.
Established a dedicated space to showcase and sell the NANGA brand.

2017

International expansion began

Exhibiting at the Outdoor Retailer Show marked the beginning of NANGA's international expansion. 
The company went on to expand its presence in the European and Asian markets.

2019

In-house logistics center established

Established the NANGA Nagaoka Logistics Center (NNLC).
Strengthened its domestic and international shipping operations to support the company's growth.

2024

30th anniversary of the NANGA brand

NANGA celebrated the 30th anniversary of its founding as a brand. 
Looking ahead to the next chapter, it continues to take on new challenges.

2025

New brand and new business

Launched the new brand MODMNT.
Opened its first outlet store, expanding the scope of its business.
